Q: I’ve been dating this guy for two months and he is already saying I love you. This is nice, but it seems too soon. What do you think?

A: In my opinion, saying I love you too soon usually indicates one of two things:

1. The words are being used to get something, usually sex. It really stinks when such precious words are used as a tool for manipulation.

2. The words do not reflect the depth of meaning you think they do. I tend to apply the four seasons approach to saying “I love you” - you need to know someone in at least four seasons (one year) before you can genuinely know someone well enough to say I love you.

Dating, to be successful long term, requires being able to trust the other person.

One of the ways trust is built is when a person does what they say they are going to do. This allows you to begin to count on someone.

When the behavior and the words do not line up

I think there are two ways to look at this:

1. We humans are very inconsistent and incongruent people. We say we want to lose weight and then eat like crazy, etc. So some disconnect between words and actions is to be expected from fallible human beings.

Atlanta is an extraordinary place for historians. It is a city that is rich in both history and culture. If you are a Civil War buff you will find Atlanta particularly wonderful. One of the “must see” places in Atlanta to take in Civil War history is the Oakland Cemetery. Located at 248 Oakland Avenue in Atlanta, the cemetery is home to the final resting place of many civil war soldiers and several famous citizens of Atlanta. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. So what will you find at the cemetery?

Atlanta is one of the major areas in the United States where a number of culinary establishments are operating. It is for this large mix that Atlanta becomes a great location for people wanting to learn about the art of cooking.

With more and more people recognizing how ideal Atlanta for studying culinary arts is, it’s no surprise that today, almost a hundred culinary arts schools are now operating in the Atlanta area. These schools are offering programs that generally vary according to the focus of study, the requirements, and the cost. Some of these culinary arts schools in Atlanta are expensive, however. But knowing how valuable the programs are, the cost of the education can surely be outstripped by the quality of the education that the culinary arts schools in Atlanta can provide.

Q:I’m 36 years old, divorced 5 years, with no children. I met a man who is 57 years old. He has three older children, all married, successful and with families of their own. We’ve been dating for three months.

My concern is our 20-year age difference. I would like your thoughts on how that might affect our relationship. Some of my friends think he’s too old for me, others think I like him because he’s well off (I’m well off too, I own a successful recruiting company), while others say I’ll get stuck taking care of him during the best years of my life. I don’t like all of this negative feedback, but I would like to be more clear on this matter. Does age matter when you’re in love?

This is one of the dangers of the date-to-mate trap. If you go out into the dating world with the goal that you must find a long term relationship or even marriage, you set yourself up for trying to make something fit that does not, cannot, and will not fit.

I had a coaching client once that entered into a marriage relationship knowing he wanted children and knowing that she was ambivalent at best about having children.

The outcome is predictable, is it not? The couple eventually divorced over this issue.
